Kyrgyz Research and Education Network Association KRENA

KRENA is a non-profit organization engaged in the development of a research and education network in Kyrgyzstan, the development of information technologies and the Internet, the creation of a telecommunication and network infrastructure of the science and education system.

The goals of the Association are:

• creation and development of computer and telecommunication network infrastructure based on modern information and communication technologies, which allows the combination of scientific and educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan, hospitals, museums and libraries into a single information system;

• provide access for educational institutions and research institutes to the scientific and educational computer network and access to the global computer network of the Internet;

• promoting the development of information and communication technologies, distance learning based on IT, and the development of the information society in Kyrgyzstan;

• coordination of activities on the creation of electronic textbooks, programs, databases;

• using the resources of the global Internet to ensure Kyrgyzstan equal access to knowledge and advanced educational technologies;

• implementation of practical measures aimed at improving the activities of the electronic and computer communication system, ensuring its systematic growth and development;

• coordination of actions of the Association members in the field of development, use and marketing of new information technologies in the field of science and education;

Terms of entry Members of the Association may be any scientific, educational, or research institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
